DAILY ROUTINE

OUR CURRICULUM

8.00 – 10.00 am

The nursery day begins with free play. As children arrive they can wander and choose their own activities. Children of varying ages and abilities mingle and play together. Older children are usually a great asset with the settling in of new children. This is encouraged and is part of our programme for personal and social development. Breakfast is served at 9am.

10:00 – 10:30 am

General free-play is followed by circle time, which aids listening and concentrating. The register is called and checked, the task, topic, letter, colour and number of the week are reinforced. We usually incorporate music: an important strength of this nursery as it bonds the children as a group and reinforces and crosses all areas of the curriculum.

10:30 – 11:30 am

The older children are divided into small groups that rotate amongst the rooms, and take part in adult directed activities. We ensure a firm foundation in the 7 areas of learning. The younger children have free play in the conservatory where numerous activities and resources are available.

11:30 – 12:00 pm

Garden play for all children.

12:00 noon

Hot food freshly prepared daily on the premises is served. We are a vegetarian nursery. Our fruit and vegetables are organic. Eggs are always free-range and cheese is vegetarian. Fresh fruit is usually given after lunch and milk or water is offered. We cater for all types of food allergies and intolerances.

12:45 – 3:30 pm

Storytime in the playroom is followed by sleep for the younger children and garden play for the older ones. We work with parents as to length of time they want their child to sleep.

2:00 pm

Afternoon circle time which includes snack time of fresh fruit and water.

2:30 pm

Similar format to the morning with structured groups for older ones and free play for younger children.

3:30 – 6:00 pm

Garden play for all.

4:00 pm

Tea time. Healthy snacks served.

4:45 pm

Free play similar to the morning: usually in the garden as children await collection from parent. Weekly and long-term timetables are carefully planned to promote all areas of your child’s development. The weekly plan is displayed on our parent notice board for the 3-4 year old’s and on the notice board in the art room for those aged 2-3.
